In celebration of National Teacher Appreciation Day, Brandon Hamilton from WFAA surprised two Dallas ISD teachers at their homes very, very early in the morning. At 5:24 a.m., Hamilton surprised Michael Ruiz, a Dallas ISD Teacher of the Year who works at W.B. Travis Vanguard for the Academically Talented and Gifted, at his home. You can watch Ruiz’ reaction in the above video. An hour later, Hamilton surprised Brandon Segura, a teacher at Dan D. Rogers Elementary, at his home. Go here to see Segura’s reaction. Hamilton gave both educators the WFAA Golden Apple Award.

Leadership from the Dallas ISD Food and Child Nutrition Services Department visited A. Maceo New Tech High School on Monday to present the cafeteria team with the Heart of Child Nutrition Award. The award celebrates cafeteria staff that go above and beyond to provide an exceptional food experience to students. The cafeteria staff at A. Maceo New Tech High School have been serving up nutritious meals to Dallas ISD students for decades, which is exemplified through their endless pursuit of excellence.
