Cynthia Izaguirre, a Dallas ISD graduate and co-anchor on WFAA, celebrated National Teacher Appreciation Day by thanking Mr. Woody, who worked as band director when she attended Thomas Jefferson High School. “Mr. Woody fought for his students, he fought for those of us who couldn’t afford uniforms, he fought for the people who couldn’t afford instruments,” Izaguirre said. “Just as much as we respected you, you respected us.” Watch Izaguirre’s full video above.
As part of National Teacher Appreciation Day, “The Real,” a nationally broadcast daytime talk show on Fox, featured Stephanie Dixson, a Dallas ISD kindergarten dual-language teacher at F.P. Caillet Elementary. The TV show’s hosts praised Dixson for being a “high-energy inspiration” for her students. On the second day of School Nutrition Week, leadership from the Dallas ISD Food and Child Nutrition Services Department visited Eduardo Mata Elementary School to present the cafeteria team with the Heart of Child Nutrition Award. The award celebrates cafeteria staff that go above and beyond to provide an exceptional food experience to students. “The cafeteria staff at Eduardo Mata are superb,” FCNS Area Supervisor Nate Hulford said. “They are hardworking and dedicated to the students.
