Representing District 8, Miguel Solis became the youngest board member ever elected to the Dallas ISD Board of Trustees on November 5, 2013 through special election. Soon after, he was re-elected to serve a three-year term. On June 26, 2014, Solis was selected by his fellow Trustees as the Board President, making him the youngest ever to serve in the position. CityLab will utilize a school-wide urban planning, architecture, and community development framework, making its downtown location (912 S. Ervay Street) an ideal site for its inventive academic offerings. A group of volunteers helped improve the Bayles Elementary School Garden on Martin Luther King Jr. Day, and KERA News has the full story. The Americorps volunteers expanded the garden and replanted some cool weather vegetables such as beets, carrots, cabbage and some cilantro.
