Hollis Brashear, who served on the Dallas ISD board of trustees for 14 years, died on Sunday. Brashear served two terms as board president, and he previously had a 21-year career in the Army. There will be a wake for Brashear on Friday from 6:30–8 p.m. at Oak Cliff Bible Fellowship, 1808 W. Camp Wisdom Road.

The Rotary Club of Dallas is accepting teacher applications for its annual Service Above Self Awards through April 17th. The awards recognize teachers who strive to make a positive difference in the lives of others through demonstrated Service Above Self and who go above and beyond the call of duty. Teachers may self-nominate, and community members may nominate deserving teachers.  Winning recipients each receive a cash award of $2,500 or more, a customized engraved plaque, and an American flag which has been flown over the US Capitol in Washington, D.C. in their name. The teacher awards are funded by an anonymous endowment established…

Valentine’s Day is just around the corner, and Dallas ISD employees can still buy professionally prepared roses from Skyline High School’s Eco-Tech cluster! The beautiful roses cost $4o for a dozen or $25 for a half dozen. Thursday afternoon is the deadline to order the flowers in time for Valentine’s Day. Supplies are limited.
