When the NCAA Women’s Final Four came to Dallas last month, Robert T. Hill Middle School seventh-grader Maria Gonzales got a piece of the spotlight as the basketball tournament’s “junior journalist.” She conducted on-camera interviews with former players and coaches and reported on the Tourney Town fan festival and the 3-on-3 alumni tournament. A commentary by Rossi Walter, a member of the schools committee of the Harvard Club of Dallas, was recently published in The Dallas Morning News. Walter explores why Harvard University has accepted a record number of Dallas ISD graduating seniors the past two years. The Ivy League university accepted three students from the School of Science and Engineering, two from the School for the Talented and Gifted and one from Woodrow Wilson High School. The community is invited to a meeting to discuss Dallas ISD’ plans to improve South Oak Cliff High School. The meeting is Tuesday, April 11, at 6:30 p.m. at the school located at 3601 S. Marsalis Ave.
