Dylan Arnette, a junior at Carter High School, is a star both on and off the basketball court. As both the leading scorer on the basketball team and holder of the top GPA in his class, CW 33 has made Arnette its Class Act of the Week. The boys basketball teams at Madison, Lincoln and Skyline high schools are competing in the regional tournament later this week. The games with Dallas ISD teams scheduled for March 3 are: Madison High Schools v. Mount Vernon High School: 6 p.m. at Rockwall Heath High School Lincoln High School v. Paris High School: 8 p.m. at Texas A&M Commerce Skyline High School v. Dekaney High School: 8 p.m. at Ellis Davis Field House The winners of these games will play the following day. The Hub will post the results on these games.

Dr. Cynthia Wilson, chief of staff for the Dallas Independent School District, announced this week she has accepted a position to work in a similar role for Houston ISD. Pamela Lear has been appointed as Dallas ISD’s new chief of staff, effective April 1. Lear has served Dallas ISD in various leadership capacities since 2012 and began her career with the district as director of High School Redesign. Her experience in education spans nearly 30 years, when beginning as a teacher in southern California. On Feb. 23, Robert T. Hill Middle School hosted the Nokia Careers and Coding Event. Career and Technical Education students from the school were introduced to computer programming and coding through an education program developed at MIT. Representatives from Nokia served as session leaders and instructors for the event. February is CTE month, an opportunity to celebrate the value of CTE programs.
