The Dallas ISD Social Studies Department and African American Museum in Fair Park hosted students from Zan W. Holmes, Boude Storey, W. H. Atwell and T. W. Browne middle schools on Feb. 22. Dallas County Judges Stephanie Mitchell, Lisa Green, Amber Givens-Davis and Shequitta Kelly presented the Pipeline to Possibilities program focusing on inspiring students to be the best they can be and encouraging them to make the right critical decisions for their bright futures.   For more information on the Pipeline to Possibilities program, visit www.pipelinetopossibilities.com/about.

Medical City Children’s Hospital “kids teaching kids” program was at Dallas ISD’s Bowie Elementary on Tuesday, Feb. 27, for a snack demo and awards ceremony. Culinary students from Emmett J. Conrad, Skyline, Franklin Roosevelt and Thomas Jefferson high schools participated in the snack contest, giving live demonstrations of their snack-recipe creations in front of students from Sidney Lanier Elementary and James Bowie Elementary. The students, parents and staff helped rate each snack to determine the winners. One of Texas’ longest serving black senators paid South Oak Cliff High School a visit on Feb. 21, but it was a males only event. State Sen. Royce West helped continue efforts, led by the campus this year, to host an all-male forum during its S.O.C. Male Leadership Series program. The series is specifically designed for male students to hear from other men who are successful  figures within the community and business sector.
