Souper Bowl of Caring, a nonprofit dedicated to tackling hunger, kicked off its year-round initiative at Billy Earl Dade Middle School to help the more than 4 million Texans who face hunger. Teaming up with long-standing grocer partners, Albertsons, Kroger, Market Street and Tom Thumb, SBOC held its annual kick off at Dade Middle School on Thursday, Jan. 18. Dallas Mayor Mike Rawlings, Dallas ISD Deputy Superintendent Israel Cordero, Trustee Bernadette Nutall and retired Dallas Cowboy Drew Pearson also attended the kick off to voice their support of SBOC. Seagoville Middle School students have a much better shot of staying healthy after Albertsons recently donated and administered more than 100 flu vaccines at the campus. “With the current flu epidemic, it’s great having one of our most dedicated partners, Albertsons, step up to the plate to offer protection to the students of Seagoville Middle School,” said Tom Hayden of the Dallas ISD Strategic Initiatives and External Relations Partnership Office. Teachers of the year Three outstanding educators were named the Dallas ISD Teachers of the Year at a special reception on Wednesday (learn more).
