Last year, Saumya Rawat founded IT Empowerment for Her, an organization that offers camps and workshops for young girls to give them hands-on experience in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) activities, Information Technology and Computer Science. Her work drew national attention, as she was awarded the 2017 National Award for Aspirations in Computing and also the 2017 SWENext Global Innovator Award. She also won a Technology Stars of the Future award from the National Center for Women & Informational Technology. Six Dallas ISD senior student-athletes are the proud recipients of the Nancy Lieberman Educational College Scholarship. The students can use the one-time $10,000 scholarship toward college tuition payments. The scholarship goes toward deserving high school student-athletes who excel in sports and academics and have made a positive impact on the community. Young ladies at Lincoln High School met with mentors and received powerful pep talks at the “Breakfast With A Bunch of Beauties” event presented by the Be You Tiful Girls, Trustee Bernadette Nutall and sponsored by Urban Specialists. The event connected students with mentors and provided information on how to prepare for success physically, spiritually and emotionally. Students also learned how to dress for job interviews and received practical advice on how to stand out in the business world.
