Female students from four Dallas ISD schools are on their way to becoming the next generation of political leaders thanks to IGNITE, which builds political ambition in young women. Ervin Elementary School met their tutors at Toyota who will help them read through TutorMate, an online tutoring program that connects volunteers with students to engage in virtual readings! A career educator from Wilmer-Hutchins High School has been inducted into the National Association of Negro Musicians’ Dallas Chapter Hall of Fame. Dr. Beverly Chinn has spent most of her career as a secondary choral educator at Title I schools, most recently at Wilmer-Hutchins. While the Winter Olympics play on TVs across the world, one Sunset High School student is staying busy in the gym training for a shot in the 2020 Summer Olympics. Stephen Acosta, a senior at Sunset, will compete in Poland in March for a chance to earn his spot on the USA Olympic team.
