Dallas ISD students with visual impairments participated in a special beeping egg hunt on Thursday, March 29. The event, which was coordinated by the Dallas ISD Special Education Vision Department, used special eggs that beep so students could find them more easily. In addition to the beeping egg hunt, students enjoyed dying easter eggs, cookie decorating, and more. Watch the above video to learn more.
Members of Dallas ISD’s early learning team, staff, and volunteers took to the streets on Thursday, March 29, to let people know in person about available pre-K opportunities in the district. Pre-K registration starts Monday, April 2. The teams went door-to-door in Dallas neighborhoods to tell residents about the critical importance of high quality pre-K, and how the district next year is expanding both tuition-based and pre-K for 3-year-olds Dallas ISD offers pre-K for free to qualifying families. Three projects from 20 Dallas ISD high schools participating in the Aspen Challenge have emerged as winners and will compete against others from Philadelphia – this year’s other partner city – in June at the Aspen Ideas Festival in Aspen, Colo. Nine Dallas ISD National Academy Foundation academies have achieved special designations this year from NAF among nearly 200 others recognized across the country. There were more than 100 “Model” schools determined by NAF’s annual assessment. That designation recognizes academies that deliver high-quality educational experiences. Sixty-nine academies in the network reached the “Distinguished” level, which is the network’s highest level of achievement. 2018 Distinguished academies include: W.H.
