0Over 60 different languages are spoken throughout Dallas ISD. Being bilingual is a distinct honor and a unique skill set that continues to be in high demand in the workforce. And Dallas ISD students continue to differentiate themselves from other students across the country by receiving state and global recognition for proficiency in a foreign language. A staging fit for a Lion King
0The Lion King, one of musical theater’s grandest and most complicated productions, is not something that you’d expect from elementary school students who are the designers, actors, and dancers. But Jesus Moroles Expressive Arts Vanguard theater teacher, Jamie Nelson, and dance teacher, Brianna Miller, believed that this seemingly impossible task was possible. It was. A Brilliant Revolution: Lone Star Challenge takes on 18th Century American history
0Echoing the 18th Century, Skyline High School looked like a scene from Hamilton, one of Broadway’s most recent musical phenomena. Elementary students paraded through Skyline’s gym wearing tailcoats, frock coats, prairie dresses, and colonial soldier costumes as they participated in the 2023 Lone Star Challenge program in early May. More than 500 students competed in the Lone Star Challenge competition which is a scholastic contest wherein their mastery of a theme-based topic is revealed as they compete against hundreds of other students in nine-member teams.
