New for the 2024-2025 school year, Dallas ISD will offer students an opportunity to join a Firefighter Academy at Franklin D. Roosevelt High School of Innovation. The first-of-its-kind program includes a curriculum where students finish their high school degree while simultaneously earning industry-recognized certifications to become a firefighter. Lakita Dockery remembers being in her teens walking the hallways of W.T. White as captain of the volleyball team. Fifteen years later, she’s now Coach Dockery and is in awe of how the school has evolved.
