0Approximately 100 students from Billy Earl Dade Middle School sharpened their leadership skills and received encouragement during the inaugural Dade Leadership Academy gathering on Nov. 13 at the Hulcy school campus. The goal of the project is to build a stronger cohort of student leaders that can serve as mentors and help positively influence their peers. 0Nakia Douglas, principal of Barack Obama Male Leadership Academy, was recently recognized at a special reception honoring Dallas ISD’s top principals. This year as part of the district’s new pay for performance initiative, Douglas was one of 184 principals who received an increase in pay under the new system that is based on a combination of performance measures and student achievement results. With the new compensation plan, the higher the principal effectiveness, the higher the salary. On average, principals received a $9,164 increase in pay.
