Victors of May elections sworn into office; trustees select new officers
0The three victors in the May Dallas ISD Board of Trustee elections were sworn into office and new officers were elected during the board’s regular meeting on Thursday night. District 3 Trustee Dan Micciche (Northeast Dallas) and District 9 Trustee Bernadette Nutall (South Dallas) were sworn in to serve new three year terms and Edwin Flores, who previously served from 2005-12 as the trustee for District 1 (North Dallas), took the oath of office again to begin a new term. Flores replaces Elizabeth Jones, who chose not to seek re-election. Following the swearing in of trustees, new officers were elected.…
New School Leadership chief, permanent HCM chief announced
0Dallas ISD announced today that Dr. Robert Bravo from the Los Angeles Unified School District has been appointed to serve as the district’s new Chief of School Leadership, beginning June 15, 2015. In addition, the interim chief of Human Capital Management for the district since mid-February, Karry Chapman, has been selected to permanently fill the position. Bravo has 25 years of experience in education, including leadership at both the campus and administrative levels, all in California. District releases results from inaugural student perception survey
0Results from the first Dallas ISD extensive survey of students show that a strong majority of students said their teacher encouraged them to do their best; their teacher set high expectations; and their teacher clearly presented the information they needed to learn. The student perception survey is a research-based survey that was administered in April to students in grades 3-12. Each student that met the eligibility requirements completed two surveys. The results provide feedback to teachers and could count for up to 15 percent of a teacher’s overall evaluation.
