Bridge Plan would pave way for additional Pre-K classrooms (video)
0Shirley Dolph, the assistant principal at David G. Burnet Elementary School, said the school’s Pre-K program is fantastic. However, the school does not have adequate room to serve as many Pre-K students as it could, Dolph said. The district’s proposed Bridge Plan, which would tackle immediate district needs, would, in part, fund a new wing with four needed additional Pre-K classes at the elementary school. Elementary school groundbreaking inspires community
0The March 6 groundbreaking ceremony for Jose “Joe” May Elementary School attracted school and government officials, parents and students who wore lots of smiles. The event, marking the beginning of construction for the 100,000-square-foot school, was held at Francisco “Pancho” Medrano Middle School due to inclement weather. May Elementary is the last school to be built with funds from Dallas ISD’s 2008 Bond Program, and will serve 800 students in grades Pre-K through 5. Job fair kicks off recruitment season (video)
0Dallas ISD kicked off its recruitment season with a job fair that targeted recent graduates and candidates with alternative teaching certification. The event was held March 3 at Adamson High School. The next, larger job fair is scheduled for March 21 at Conrad High School. At the March 21 job fair, district leaders will discuss initiatives such as the Teacher Excellence Initiative. The speeches at the job fair will be live streamed on the Dallas ISD website.
Report details response to Lakewood Elementary internal air quality incident
0As a follow up to internal air quality (IAQ) concerns at Lakewood Elementary that resulted in the evacuation of students and staff, the following overview is provided regarding the district’s response to the campus. Root Cause District staff determined that an owl blocked a vent stack on the roof from properly exhausting fumes from the boiler. This caused fumes to back up into the boiler room and further into the building.
