Running For A Cause: Alfredo Ramirez at Hillcrest High School (video)
0In just four short years since coming to America and learning the English language, Alfredo Ramirez has achieved academic success. Ramirez is a recipient of the Superintendent’s Scholarship and the coveted Sulentic Family Scholarship. He is a member of the Academy of Engineering and the Robotics Organization at Hillcrest High School. An accomplished musician, Ramirez plays multiple instruments. He is also the co-director of music for the children’s choir at his church. He plans to attend Texas A&M University to study biomedical engineering. Parents pleased that students could weigh in on teacher effectiveness (video)
0As Dallas ISD continues to redefine teacher evaluation, one of the most talked-about pieces of the Teacher Excellence Initiative is the student-perception surveys. Students took grade-level and age-appropriate surveys to determine what they found were the most-effective qualities of their teachers. See what a few Dallas ISD parents think about the district allowing their children to have a voice in the process. This was the first year for the student surveys.
TAG again named best high school in United States
0The School for the Talented and Gifted at the Yvonne A. Ewell Townview Center (TAG) has been named the best high school in the nation for the fourth consecutive year by U.S. News & World Report. TAG was joined in the top 10 of the annual rankings by the School for Science and Engineering, which earned the No. 5 spot. Overall, 13 Dallas ISD campuses, including six based at the Yvonne A. Ewell Townview Center, received gold, silver or bronze medals in the magazine’s Best High Schools rankings. Dallas ISD School Board Trustee vote results
0Edwin Flores, Dan Micciche and Bernadette Nutall won their school board races on Saturday evening. Flores will represent District 1, Micciche will continue to represent District 3, and Nutall will continue to represent District 9. Trustees are elected to serve three-year terms of office.
