Dallas teens gain work experience through Mayor’s Intern Program
0More than 280 Dallas ISD high school juniors and seniors are gaining real world experience thanks to the Mayor’s Intern Fellows Program, which kicked off June 15. Modeled after the White House Fellows Program, the Intern Fellows Program prepares motivated teens to become the leaders of tomorrow. During the eight-week paid summer internship, students from Dallas ISD and public charter high schools have the opportunity to learn skills from a variety of fields, including technology, healthcare and education. 0At the start of the teacher recruitment season, Superintendent Mike Miles set a goal for all Dallas ISD classrooms to start the 2015-2016 school year with a qualified teacher at the helm. From Harvard to UT: Valedictorians and salutatorians head to schools across U.S.
0Dallas ISD’s top-performing seniors–those named valedictorians and salutatorians of their graduating classes based on academic achievement–have closed one chapter in their education and are looking forward to the next. The star students will soon be headed to top Texas schools such as Texas A&M University, Southern Methodist University, Texas Woman’s University, University of Texas at Austin, and Texas Christian University. Out-of-state choices include Harvard University, Cornell University, and the University of California, among others.
