Trustees approve Dallas ISD’s 2017-2018 calendar
0The 2017-2018 student calendar approved by trustees Thursday features summer professional development for teachers in August with the first day of classes set for Monday, Aug. 28. Each school day will have an additional 10 minutes during breakfast in the classroom. With the expanded day, the district will reach the state-mandated total minutes of instruction by June 1, the last day of classes. 0This year’s Dallas ISD STEM Expo was bigger, better and more fun! Conducted for the first time at the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center, the event provided family fun focusing on Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics. Dallas ISD and DCCCD reveal industry partners for new expansion of collegiate academies
0The Dallas Independent School District (Dallas ISD) and Dallas County Community College District (DCCCD) announced today the more than 24 Dallas businesses that will partner with the district’s 10 new collegiate academies opening next school year. The industry partners will provide students with mentorship, job interviews, site visits, and some will be selected for internship opportunities. Wanted: Minority and women-owned businesses to participate in Dallas ISD’s Bond Program
0As progress on Dallas ISD’s $1.6 billion bond program moves forward, the participation of minority and women owned businesses is a major priority in awarding contracts for the dozens of campus additions, renovations and new school construction projects. In fact, the district’s board of trustees has set two goals to target the effort – 35 percent M/WBE participation in bond funded professional services, such as program management, architectural design, and land surveys, and 30 percent participation in actual construction projects.
