School Breakfast Week touts benefits of starting day with healthy food

This week is National School Breakfast Week! The theme is “Take the School Breakfast Challenge” and aims to encourage parents, students and school officials to begin their morning with a healthy breakfast. Dallas ISD schools are celebrating in a variety of ways, from hosting special guests to designing posters with their favorite breakfast foods. Free, nutritious Breakfast in the Classroom is available at all Dallas ISD schools. In elementary and middle schools, breakfast is taken to students in their classrooms. Go here to see where Spring Break meals are being offered in 2018 Twenty-five Dallas ISD schools will serve a free morning snack and lunch over Spring Break. Anyone who is age 18 and under can show up to any of the 25 Dallas ISD schools for a free meal. The Spring Break Meals Program ensures children won’t go hungry, even during vacation. Dallas ISD celebrates lasting legacy of Dr. Seuss by focusing on literacy

Schools across Dallas ISD honored the legacy of late children’s author Dr. Seuss on Thursday, March 2, which marked what would have been his 113th birthday. Volunteers visited campuses to read to students and help with Seuss-themed activities. At Paul Dunbar Elementary School, guests from Baylor, Scott & White and Aramark visited the school Thursday morning to read to students. Some staff members dressed as The Cat in the Hat, a favorite Seuss character. At Roger Q.
