0National Kindergarten Day is Friday, April 21, and it’s a chance to celebrate how Dallas ISD kindergarten prepares students for lifelong success. Robotics teams from six schools headed to World Championships this week
0Robotics teams from six Dallas ISD schools are competing in World Championship competitions this month! These four schools are competing in the VEX IQ Robotics World Championship being held April 22–25 in Kentucky: Winnetka Elementary School (has two teams competing) Sanger Elementary School Casa View Elementary School Gaston Middle School Meanwhile, Conrad High School is participating in the FRC Robotics Championship and Sunset High School is participating in the FTC Robotics Championship. Dallas ISD simplifies student transfer process
0Dallas ISD is simplifying the process for how students can transfer to other district schools. Superintendent Michael Hinojosa said at Thursday’s board meeting that simplifying the student transfer process will help more families find their best fit Dallas ISD school. Students will now be able to transfer schools for any reason, whereas, before, they had to have a curriculum- or hardship-related reason. Also, students who have been approved for transfer into a school will no longer have to reapply every year to attend that school, as long as there are still available spots at the campus. Naming ceremony celebrates Young Women’s STEAM Academy at Balch Springs
0Marking a transition from a traditional co-ed middle school to an all-girls STEAM academy, today district officials, elected representatives and parents joined with the staff and students of the Young Women’s STEAM Academy at Balch Springs for a naming ceremony. In a program attended by Balch Springs’ current and former mayors and members of the Balch Springs City Council, speakers congratulated the school on its progress since opening last August to serve girls in grades six through eight.
