Partnership with airline takes flight at Adamson Collegiate Academy
0Brandon Villegas, a freshman in the Adamson High School Collegiate Academy, will openly admit that he at first didn’t want to be a part of the collegiate academy. Sure, being able to earn up to 60 hours of college credit and learn from industry partners while still in high school seemed like a good opportunity. But it also seemed hard! However, Villegas is now fully on board with the collegiate academy. Specifically, he is thrilled to learn first-hand from the collegiate academy’s industry partner—American Airlines—which will house more than 10 full-time employees at the campus. 0The African American Success Initiative (AASI) has a student advocacy component that focuses attention on students who have the potential to perform well and make academic and social strides given the right support and nurturing. The program provides a student advocate coordinator who creates and monitors educational plans, improves educational services, empowers and supports students, and builds a supportive network in the school. Three magnet schools are expanding, still accepting applications
0Great news! Three outstanding Dallas ISD magnet schools are expanding and still accepting applications from students currently in grades 3–5. J.P. Starks Math, Science and Technology Vanguard, Sidney Lanier Expressive Arts Vanguard, and Mark Twain Leadership Vanguard are accepting applications through Feb. 28. Students are encouraged to apply here. The three magnet schools are housed within neighborhood schools. The magnet schools, which traditionally have served students in grades 4–5, will add one grade every year until it serves grades 4–8 in 2021.
