Nearly 3,800 Dallas ISD students to attend Early College High Schools
0Nearly 3,800 Dallas ISD students are enrolled this upcoming school year in 23 collegiate academies and Early College High Schools (ECHS) where they can earn up to 60 hours of college credit or an associate degree—at no cost to them—while earning a high school diploma. Dallas ISD and the Dallas County Community College District (DCCCD) operate the collegiate academies that have proven very successful. All 17 of the new collegiate academies received the Texas Education Agency (TEA) ECHS designation for the 2017-2018 school year. Called board meeting on Aug. 5 to consider a special Tax Ratification Election has been postponed
0A called board meeting to consider a special Tax Ratification Election for October has been postponed. The Administration postponed the meeting after receiving an estimate of $2.2 million for a special October election. Instead, the Administration will present options for the Board to consider calling a Tax Ratification Election or Tax Swap on November 7, the Uniform Election date. The cost of the November election is anticipated to be no more that $750,000. 0A one-stop shop to prepare children and their families for the school year, the 21st Mayor’s Back to School Fair, presented by Walmart, will take place on Friday, Aug. 4, from 8 a.m.-2 p.m., at the Centennial Building at Fair Park. “We want to make sure that kids are well-prepared for their first day of school,” said Dallas Mayor Mike Rawlings. “Getting ready for school – buying supplies, getting immunizations and haircuts and seeing the dentist – can be overwhelming and expensive for families.
