Students lead conversation on how to prevent and address gun violence (video)
0Dallas ISD students led honest, respectful conversations on how the district, greater community and entire country can address threats of gun violence and threats in schools. Students from almost every high school attended the Course Correction Conversation: Student Edition event held at Briscoe Carpenter Livestock Center at Fair Park. Garza ECHS celebrates its National Title I Distinguished School award
0The word that kept popping up on Monday, Feb. 26, at Trinidad “Trini” Garza Early College High School was family. While staff and students were celebrating the school’s designation as a National Title I Distinguished School, the focus was on the culture that helped get them there. Garza is just one of two schools in Texas, and only one of 63 across the country, to net the national award. “We are a family, and we treat each other as family,” said Principal Macario Hernandez. Dallas ISD ranks seventh for high participation in breakfast program
0Dallas ISD’s Food and Child Nutrition Services (FCNS) ranked seventh among the 75 largest school districts in the country for participation in the district’s breakfast program. Trustees recognize singers, speaker and special campus award at meeting
0The Dallas ISD Board of Trustees recognized students and staff for special achievements at its regular meeting on Thursday, Feb. 22, 2018. • Timothy Johnson, a senior at Skyline High School, was awarded 1st Chair – Tenor 1 – in the Texas All-State Mixed Choir, the which is the highest achievement a student in music can be awarded in the State of Texas. From the 14,000 students who started the audition process in September, he was among the 224 voices selected to the Texas All-State Mixed Choir.
