The Dallas ISD Food and Child Nutrition Services Department will offer free meals at select campuses during spring break. The meals are available for all students up to 18 years-old and special needs students up to age 21. The goal is to provide students nutritious meals even during their vacation. Meals will be served Monday, March 12, through Thursday, March 15, including a morning snack from 8 to 9 a.m. and lunch from 11 a.m. to noon. Dallas Police Chief U. Renee Hall inspired Kimball High School students at an all-girls assembly to achieve their full potential. As the first female chief of police in the city’s 139-year history, Hall told the female students they can do anything they set their minds to if they work hard and persevere. “I am so excited to speak to Dallas ISD students,” Hall said after the assembly. “This community is wonderful, and we want them to know how important they are to us in the law enforcement community.” The assembly’s theme was “#Me Too: Being a Lady in Today’s Society,”…

The Cat in the Hat is Back: Schools celebrate Dr. Seuss Day (video)

The Cat in the Hat broke loose across Dallas ISD schools to celebrate the legacy of late children’s author Dr. Seuss. To honor what would have been the iconic author’s 114th birthday, volunteers visited campuses to read to students and help with Seuss-themed activities. Over at Jill Stone Elementary School, KPMG, Central Market and Texas Instruments enchanted students with stories and poems from Dr. Seuss. As a bonus, KPMG donated books to all students at Stone and Elisha M. Pease Elementary School.
