Discovering summer one camp at a time
0Hundreds of families showed up to Billy Earl Dade Middle School on a Saturday to learn about the many enrichment activities offered over the summer. To help prevent summer learning loss, Dallas ISD is partnering with the City of Dallas, libraries and nonprofits to offer hundreds of summer programs and enrichment opportunities for students of all ages. SEL practices credited for big improvement in middle school’s culture and climate
0A Dallas ISD middle school that has embraced Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) practices has seen its culture and climate improve by 40 percent since last school year, according to a climate survey completed by staff. Meanwhile, the climate and culture survey at E.D. Walker Middle School also shown a 40-percent increase in students’ good behavior as perceived by the staff. Discipline referrals have decreased thanks to the high expectations and SEL practices. Heroic coach and teacher, outstanding robotics team and student app creators recognized by trustees
0An outstanding robotics team, a heroic coach and science teacher who helped save a child’s life, and a group of student app creators headed to Washington D.C. were recognized by the board of trustees on April 25 for their outstanding accomplishments. At the US Open National VEX Robotics Championship held in Iowa April 1-3, Casa View Elementary School won the Teamwork Champion Award, competing against 170 teams from all over the United States, Canada, and China. Dallas ISD celebrates Early College High School Week
0Dallas ISD opened the door to 18 collegiate academies in the fall of 2017. When the 2018–2019 school year ends, nearly 6,000 Dallas ISD high school students will go into the summer having earned college credit hours. These students are enrolled in one of the 23 early college high schools (ECHS) operated by Dallas ISD and the Dallas County Community College District (DCCCD), where students can earn up to 60 hours of college or an associate degree while still in high school.
