0Twenty-five Dallas ISD NAF academy students visited Capital One on June 20 for a campus tour highlighting seven visual “STEAM stops” to explore how their everyday environment connects to science, technology, engineering, arts and math concepts. 0Beruk Tsuhaye always loved reading while growing up in Uganda, but he never had the chance to read new books in his native country. Now, as part of the Dallas ISD Refugee Summer Program, Tsuhaye smiled wide as he opened up copies of the Percy Jackson novels and I Am Malala. “This camp has been the most amazing experience,” he said. On-time bus arrival rate climbed from 65 percent to 95 percent, more improvements on the way
0The on-time bus arrival rate increased to 95 percent by the end of the school year, according to a report shared with Dallas ISD trustees on June 13. Dallas ISD started running its own transportation system for the first time this past school year after Dallas County residents voted to dissolve Dallas County Schools (DCS), the taxpayer-funded agency that Dallas ISD contracted with to bus students. The average on-time arrival rate under DCS in 2017–2018 was 65 percent.
