Dallas ISD to hold virtual commencement ceremonies for Class of 2020, districtwide ovation planned
0In order to provide the safest and most secure environment for our students, their families and staff, this year Dallas ISD will hold commencement ceremonies virtually beginning May 22. Efforts will be made to maintain as much of the traditional ceremony as possible. In addition, all 8,900 seniors will receive customized banners to display at home that recognize them as members of their high school’s Class of 2020. Hinojosa joins superintendents, districts nationwide urging Congress for additional funding for public schools
0Today, Superintendent Michael Hinojosa joins the Council of the Great City Schools (CGCS), the nation’s primary coalition of large urban public-school districts, urging Congress to approve new funding for local school systems in the next coronavirus supplemental appropriations bill. In a letter to Capitol Hill, the CGCS calls on an additional federal allocation of $175 billion in Educational Stabilization Funds to be distributed to the local level through the Title I formula. 0April is National Occupational Therapy month and Dallas ISD celebrates the work of Occupational Therapy practitioners who transform the lives of our students by helping them gain independence. “It’s our job to ensure that students, parents and staff who need this kind of therapy have the information and resources so that these students can access their educational environment to the fullest extent possible,” said Dr. Kiticia James, Dallas ISD’s occupational and physical lead therapist. Three school changes for bulk grab-and-go meal pickup service
0To allow for planned and necessary A/C repairs at Ann Richards STEAM Academy and Francisco Medrano Middle School, those schools as of this week will no longer offer emergency meal service. Instead, Jose “Joe” May Elementary School and Skyline High School will start offering emergency meal service as replacement campuses Meanwhile, due to previously planned construction, Justin F. Kimball High School as of this week will no longer offer bulk grab-and-go meals. T.W. Browne Middle School will now serve both campuses.
