Data shows the pandemic could have a devastating impact on the academic progress of students. To mitigate this learning loss and accelerate student growth, Dallas ISD is exploring three potential options for the 2021–2022 school year that would add learning and enrichment time for some or all students. At Thursday’s Dallas ISD board briefing, trustees will consider a proposal to waive the use of the fall Assessment of Course Performance (ACP) as a weighted portion of the semester average for middle and high school students. Board members are expected to vote on the proposal at their monthly meeting on Dec. 17. Dallas ISD is significantly increasing its internet bandwidth so students can successfully learn from anywhere

Dallas ISD is significantly increasing its internet bandwidth across the district to provide the best internet experience possible. On Nov. 13, Dallas ISD increased its bandwidth from 20 gigabytes per second to 40 gigabytes per second. By Dec. 18, the bandwidth will increase to 100 gigabytes per second. Bandwidth is the maximum amount of data transmitted over an internet connection in a given amount of time. Exceeding bandwidth capacity can result in poor video and sound quality–especially in Zoom and Microsoft Teams meetings– and cause dropped connections.
