0Seven principals have been chosen as finalists to be named Dallas ISD Principal of the Year in each of three categories. The three winners will be chosen in the coming days. Elementary School Finalists Sandra Barrios-Rojas, Jack Lowe Sr. Elementary School Under Barrios-Rojas’ leadership, Jack Lowe Sr. Elementary School has earned an “A” campus from the Texas Education Agency. Located in the center of refugee and immigrant community, this Title I school has a diverse student population. Lowe students come from 50 countries worldwide. Dallas ISD mask protocol update following Gov. Abbott May 18 announcement
0Gov. Greg Abbott on May 18 announced that public schools and district facilities cannot require masks starting June 5. Until that time, Dallas ISD will continue requiring masks be worn at schools and district facilities. After June 5, everyone is highly encouraged to continue wearing masks inside schools, on buses, and all district facilities, as an added measure of safety for all. Dallas ISD remains committed to continue following social distancing and sanitation protocols and will make every effort to offer services like student and staff vaccinations, as resources become available. Governor recognizes Conrad student for collaboration with H-TECH partner to make video game recreating the wheelchair experience
0When Collin Porter and Sergio Reyna began their internship at Magnin & Associates last fall, they never imagined their work would help people across the country who are learning how to adapt to electric wheelchairs. They also certainly never expected to get a recognition from Texas Governor Greg Abbott. Both seniors attend Dr. Emmett J. Conrad High School and are studying video game design through the Conrad Global H-TECH, a program where students can choose a career pathway, take college courses and earn up to 60 credit hours–or an associate degree–upon high school graduation.
