Dallas ISD families could receive state help for food
0Because Dallas ISD offers free meals to all its students, all families are eligible to receive the Pandemic Electronic Benefit Transfer (P-EBT), a one-time benefit provided by the State of Texas for eligible families to buy food. Children who are eligible are: Children up to 21 years old who are certified for free or reduced-price meals at school in Texas during the 2020-2021 school year. More than 10 percent of graduating seniors expected to graduate with a diploma and associate degree
0Thanks to the P-TECH program, more than 10 percent of Dallas ISD seniors are expected to graduate this year with a high school diploma and an associate degree. This represents an incredible turnaround since 2009, when only 7 percent of Dallas ISD students earned any kind of secondary credits within six years after graduating high school. “When we started this (P-TECH) journey many years ago, we knew it would be good, but it keeps getting better,” Superintendent Michael Hinojosa said. Dallas ISD addresses unprocessed SPED referrals
0As part of our ongoing commitment to educate all students, this spring, Dallas ISD discovered a backlog of about 2,000 unprocessed evaluations and referrals for Special Education services. The program is one of the district’s fastest growing areas, and we are aligning resources to work through this issue and assure that referrals and evaluations are conducted as quickly and thoroughly as possible, and that students receive the services they need. 0Three principals have been chosen as Principal of the Year representing Elementary Schools, Secondary Schools and Choice/Magnet Schools. Meet the winners: Elementary School- Reymundo Cervantes Guajardo, Henry B. Gonzalez Personalized Learning Academy Reymundo Cervantes Guajardo became a school administrator in 2014 after serving in elementary schools since 2006. As principal for Gonzalez Academy, Cervantes Guajardo has facilitated the school’s choice transformation to a personalized learning academy and led the work that earned it an A rating from the Texas Education Agency.
