0When Dallas ISD took the bold step to eliminate discretionary out-of-school suspensions, it led to a dramatic shift in how schools handle discipline. This new effort paved the way for campus-based Reset Centers, which were rolled out across the district’s comprehensive secondary campuses. These centers provided a dedicated space on campus for the behavioral interventionists to work closely with students to help them process and reset behavior, while still keeping them engaged in their schoolwork. Nathaniel Hawthorne Elementary has a new $26.5 million home thanks to 2015 bond
0Nathaniel Hawthorne Elementary School returned from Thanksgiving break to a brand new $26.5 million campus. The new 81,500-square-foot replacement school is designed to provide next-generational and interactive learning opportunities by creating a “hive” of student connectivity, visual curiosity, and learning interaction. The new campus provides safe, collaborative, serendipitous interior student-centered spaces that are open and welcoming while strengthening the union of students, parents, and teachers. “After a long two-year process, I want to thank our parents, staff, and community for their patience and cooperation,” said Principal Ana Fernandez. “Together, we did it, and our Hornets now have a new home.”…

0The Dallas ISD Professional & Digital Learning department is leading a districtwide effort to promote digital self-awareness, safety, etiquette and best practices among middle school and high school students. District’s mask requirement expected to remain in effect until Martin Luther King Jr. Day
0Superintendent Michael Hinojosa announced today that the district’s mask requirement will remain in effect until Martin Luther King Jr. Day, pending the current COVID case numbers remaining stable. Once the protocol is lifted, we will move to recommending masks be worn in schools and offices for the safety of students and staff.
