The Dallas ISD Board of Trustees unanimously approved a resolution during the Sept. 28 board meeting highlighting the pressing need for the Texas Legislature to prioritize increased funding for public schools. The resolution draws attention to the funding gap which places Texas 42nd out of 50 states in terms of public education funding and ranks the state below the national average in K-12 spending. In celebration of the 20th anniversary of the Oncor Kids Race, BMW Dallas Marathon Festival and Dallas ISD are teaming up with local online shoe retailer Shoebacca to donate new athletic shoes to students, from 1 to 2:30 p.m. on Sept. 29 at the Charles Rice Learning Center. The Oncor Kids Race, held at Dallas City Plaza in December, attracts 6,000 students each year.
