Parents, community members, school staff and students recently marked the opening of the new Anne Frank Early Childhood Center with a ribbon-cutting. The celebration is the first of several planned to mark the growth of Dallas ISD’s school choice and early learning programs. Derek Little, assistant superintendent of Early Learning, briefed trustees on Sept. 13 about how pre-K is setting up students for lifelong success. Fourteen Dallas ISD students have been named among the 16,000 National Merit Scholarship Semifinalists, with a chance to become one of the 7,500 finalists who will take home scholarships worth a combined $31 million. Dr. Scott Rudes, who has served as the school’s principal the past five years, announced he had an opportunity too good to pass up and was resigning.
