The Dallas ISD Racial Equity Office is holding a series of community meetings and events to further its mission of identifying and removing obstacles to create a level playing field for all students to succeed. The REO Tuesdays are being held in the four quadrants of the city. Winnetka Elementary School inició la semana de celebraciones por el 80º aniversario del edificio y los 106 años de brindar una educación ejemplar a los niños de Oak Cliff y las comunidades cercanas. It’s no mystery that Dallas ISD has outstanding young authors. Fourteen students attended an Oct. 31 luncheon at the Bouchercon World Mystery Convention after being named finalists by the Reading Language Arts Department in a mystery-writing competition. Residents of the Buckner Terrace neighborhood in southeast Dallas may be doing double-takes when they pass Edna Rowe Elementary School on Hovenkamp Drive thanks to a recent face-lift that has given the school new curb appeal. Rowe received $16 million in construction upgrades funded by the district’s 2015 Bond Program. Educators and principals from all 230 Dallas ISD schools attended a recognition ceremony for the 2019-2020 Campus Teacher of the Year (CTOY). The personnel at each school voted for their CTOY. A new rule this year meant the CTOY couldn’t have won this recognition in the past three years. Only CTOY winners are now eligible to apply for the Dallas ISD 2019-2020 Teacher of the Year award.
