Twice a year, every year, certain days are designated to give teachers the opportunity to meet with parents and discuss their students’ progress. This year, parent conferences will be a little different. More flexibility is being built around parent conferences by designating a parent conferences week and counting the parent conference time as one full teacher work day each semester, which is seven hours and 45 minutes per DK (LOCAL). Each October, Dallas ISD marks National Bullying Prevention Month in recognition of the need to address the profound impact bullying can have on students’ self-esteem, mental health, and school attendance. To honor track and field athlete Sha’Carri Richardson, the Dallas ISD Board of Trustees discussed naming the track field at John Kincaide Stadium, inside the Jesse Owens Athletic Complex, to the Sha’Carri Richardson Track during the October Board Briefing. The track field, near Carter High School where Richardson ran as a student, would serve as a tribute to Richardson’s remarkable achievements in sports and significant ties to the Dallas community. La Junta Escolar de Dallas ISD aprobó de manera unánime una resolución durante la reunión del 28 de septiembre que destaca la apremiante necesidad de que la Legislatura de Texas priorice un incremento en fondos para las escuelas públicas. The Dallas ISD Board of Trustees unanimously approved a resolution during the Sept. 28 board meeting highlighting the pressing need for the Texas Legislature to prioritize increased funding for public schools. The resolution draws attention to the funding gap which places Texas 42nd out of 50 states in terms of public education funding and ranks the state below the national average in K-12 spending.
