In order to become a districtwide trainer and campus leader, veteran educator and distinguished teacher Teresa Walter overcame new teacher anxiety and being overwhelmed. Now, she helps others do the same. In addition to her 14 years of teaching experience, Walter serves as the lead mentor at Trinity Heights Talented and Gifted and as a teacher trainer for Dallas ISD’s first-year teachers. With data showing that prenatal to three-years-old is a critical period in a child’s educational development, Dallas ISD is launching an effort to connect young families with high quality early learning opportunities. District leaders briefed trustees on April 8 on Project Legacy 2050. Married for 16 years, Elena and David Bates are Dallas ISD Darlings. Their love story began while both worked at Thomas C. Marsh Middle School and led and supported student groups and community partnerships. David began his career in Dallas ISD in 1999 as a Leadership Cadet Corps Instructor at Marsh Middle School, athletic coach and campus leader. To motivate their students to excel academically, bilingual teachers  Jaime Garza and Rene Crespo encouraged their 7th- and 8th-grade Dual Language students at E.D. Dallas ISD recibió la primavera entregando más de tres decenas de canastas de Pascua a estudiantes con impedimentos visuales. Este año, la tradicional búsqueda de huevos emisores de sonido cambió para que los estudiantes pudieran seguir participando en la celebración. En años anteriores, se llevaba a cabo una caza de huevos diseñada especialmente para personas con impedimentos visuales en la que usaban el oído para ubicarlos. Dallas ISD has established an aggressive timeline to complete conversations toward a goal and support plan to eliminate suspensions in the 2021–2022 school year, while still having any serious infraction go through the disciplinary alternative education program. At the April 8 board briefing, district leaders told trustees that local and national data shows that Black and Hispanic students are disproportionately suspended.
