After a spirited live auction and fundraising gala at the Dallas Zoo, the winning bidder paid $50,000 for the chance to name a newborn giraffe born Oct. 26. The money will go to conservation groups helping giraffes in the wild. The donor, who wishes to remain anonymous, has requested that the public be involved in the naming of the giraffe. The South Dallas Super Bowl, a rivalry spanning more than 50 years between the South Dallas neighborhood’s Lincoln High School Tigers and James Madison High School Trojans, will take place at 7:30 p.m., Friday, Nov. 7, at the Cotton Bowl at Fair Park.
