Sixth‑grade World Cultures students recently participated in the co‑curricular Model United Nations show case, displaying their global knowledge, research skills, and civic engagement.

Representing 32 nations from around the world, participants moved through the concourse to visit country stations, listen to presentations, and engage in thoughtful discussions as student diplomats representing their nations’ policy positions.

Student delegations also wrote position papers evaluating whether increased support and rights for women farmers would advance UN goals, poverty and zero hunger, as proposed by the United Nations for the 2026 Year of the Woman Farmer. Students debated and voted on resolutions presented by other nations, gaining firsthand experience in collaboration, negotiation, and global problem-solving.

“Our students rose to the challenge and demonstrated incredible critical thinking and global awareness,” said Brittney Burns, Social Studies Department coordinator. “This experience helped students see how international cooperation shapes the world and the differences in the history, politics, economics, geography, and culture of countries from around the world.”

Through Model United Nations, World Cultures students didn’t just study the world; they stepped into it, proving that the next generation of global leaders are already thinking boldly, collaborating thoughtfully, and shaping a brighter future.
