They say everything is bigger in Texas, but on Friday at the Alamodome, nothing was bigger than the presence of Dallas ISD.
In a feat never accomplished in the district’s long and storied athletic history, three boys’ basketball teams—James Madison, Justin F. Kimball, and David W. Carter—all traveled to the UIL State Tournament and swept their respective divisions.
James Madison High School secured the 3A Division I State Championship with a 70-59 victory over Orangefield at the Alamodome in San Antonio.
Justin F. Kimball High School claimed the 4A Division I State Championship, defeating Almeta Crawford 62-42 in the title game. This is the program’s ninth state championship.
Capping the historic run, David W. Carter High School captured the 4A Division II State Championship with a 67–41 win over La Marque. win over La Marque.
The trio of Dallas programs completed an impressive sweep at the UIL State Basketball Championships, marking one of the most successful boys basketball seasons in the district’s history.
