By The Hub on January 29, 2026 Headlines, News

Dallas ISD is closely monitoring winter weather conditions anticipated later this week and early next week.

UPDATE: Thursday, Jan. 29, 2026 | 4:00 p.m.

Dallas ISD schools and offices will reopen Friday, Jan. 30, 2026 after a thorough review of campuses and facilities to ensure they are safe for students and staff. Our crews continue working around the clock to clear ice from campus parking lots and walkways to allow safe entry inside.

Our buildings are safe, warm, and ready to welcome students. Buses will operate on normal schedules and will continue to exercise caution, and we encourage you to do the same. Please be mindful when walking to and from school and using campus parking lots.

We look forward to seeing everyone tomorrow.

UPDATE: Wednesday, Jan. 28, 2026 | 5:30 p.m.

Out of an abundance of caution and to ensure the safety of students, Dallas ISD will remain closed, Thursday, Jan. 29. Our crews continue to work around the clock to clear walkways and parking lots despite significant improvements in weather and road conditions. Also, many neighborhood streets and sidewalks remain difficult to navigate, particularly for our buses.

This decision was made with the safety of our students and staff in mind.

Families will receive an update regarding Friday through the district’s website, official social media channels, calls, texts, and local media.

UPDATE: Tuesday, Jan. 27, 2026 | 3 p.m.

Dallas ISD will remain closed tomorrow, Wednesday, Jan. 28, 2026. All athletic events and practices (indoor and outdoor) are postponed. While highways are improving, many neighborhood streets, sidewalks, and school parking lots remain icy and difficult to navigate, with refreezing expected overnight. This decision was made with the safety of our students and staff in mind.

The official sources for all Dallas ISD weather updates can be found on the district’s website, official social media channels, calls/texts, and local media. Stay safe and warm.

UPDATE: Tuesday, Jan. 27, 2026 | 12:30 p.m.

Dallas ISD is closely evaluating our decision to reopen Wednesday, Jan. 28, 2026. While temperatures continue to climb above freezing, we are carefully monitoring the road conditions across the district to make a final determination.

Thank you for your patience and understanding as we seek to safely welcome students and staff back. For updates, please continue to monitor the district’s website, social media channels, or local media.
