Known as the Great James Madison, the 110-year-old Dallas campus recently completed a transformational four-year renovation and construction project, marking a new chapter in its long-standing legacy in South Dallas.
“Trojan pride is a state of mind. It shapes how our students think, lead, and strive for greatness,” said Lonnie Russell, principal.
Renovations include a state-of-the-art competition gymnasium, modern weight room, athletic training spaces, new locker rooms, and a fully equipped concession stand; made possible by the 2020 Bond.
The campus also features outdoor enhancements with a new football and soccer practice field with a track, a baseball field, tennis courts, and three new parking lots to better serve students and the community.
Interior improvements further support student learning and engagement.
Classrooms have been fully renovated classrooms with modern furnishings, resurfaced hardwood floors with LED lighting. Key spaces like the auditorium, cafeteria, music hall and main office received major upgrades.
All HVAC systems were replaced or upgraded, while exterior enhancements thoughtfully preserve and elevate the school’s historic character.
“For 110 years, the Great James Madison High School has stood as a pillar of excellence in our community. Now, we turn the page to an exciting new chapter,” Russell said. “This is more than a renovation, it’s an investment in our future. And, at Madison, the future is always bright.”
