What an amazing first week! Students back in classrooms! Lowest first-day teacher vacancies in over a decade! And now, the new A-F ratings are so good that you’ll want to print them out and put them on your refrigerator! I know you’re busy, so I’ll make this quick: Dallas ISD has gone from a C (79) to a B (83!), and that’s even better news if you look under the hood:
- Dallas ISD doubled the number of A schools from last year, going from 30 to 60 this year.
- Now, 163 campuses (over 70%!) have earned an A or B rating. In fact, all high schools are rated A, B, or C!
- That means 93% of all Dallas ISD schools are A, B, or C rated.
You made it happen. No matter where you work or what your job title says, if you kept the lights on, the water running, or the air cold, if you served lunch or swept the halls, if you taught a class or coached a team, or if you work at 9400 or in our transportation department, this is your win. Take a moment to celebrate. We should all enjoy the feeling of being on a winning team – the Dallas ISD team.
Thanks to our commitment to incentivized compensation, early learning, high-quality instructional materials, and most of all, YOU, Dallas ISD is closing the opportunity gap at every campus and in every classroom. Obviously, we have miles to go before we sleep (ask an RLA teacher if you don’t catch the reference), but we’re not just headed in the right direction. Your boots on the ground are making real progress, and I couldn’t be prouder of this team.
Proudly,
Stephanie S. Elizalde
