Dallas ISD is committed to preparing students for success well into their future with early college programs. For the 2024-2025 school year, more than 8,500 students enrolled in pathways and technology or early college programs across 26 campuses, the highest enrollment in district history.
“It’s a memorable experience because throughout the year, you are grouped with the same people. You become very familiar with everyone, and it’s almost like a family,” said Stephanie G., a recent Dallas ISD graduate and P-TECH student. “You get to see everyone grow from ninth to 12th, and being put together helps you get to know one another”.
Through the district’s P-TECH and ECHS programs, students from all backgrounds and academic levels can earn college credits while in high school. By the time they graduate, students will finish Dallas ISD with both a high school diploma and an associate’s degree, saving them two years of time and money.
These programs are designed to be accessible and inclusive, helping students build their confidence, setting them up for a successful future in college by giving them college experiences and work. As well as the workforce, without the need for extra time learning how to properly work or train.
“Our students gain the confidence to be successful. Even if they don’t have straight A’s. Everyone across Dallas ISD has access to this program, and that is something I am most proud of,” said Tristan Lysowski, executive director of P-TECH and early college programs.
All students need to be successful in the program is determination, support, and the courage to try something new. At the same time, students can still enjoy the full high school experience, from playing sports to joining clubs, all while earning college credit toward their future.
Dallas ISD offers many areas of study to choose from, such as criminal justice, engineering, and healthcare, among others, depending on the campus students choose to attend. One program that makes Dallas ISD unique is its teacher education pathway program, which allows students to explore the teaching profession. Depending on the school and program they select, the associate degree will reflect the pathway they pursue.
