Two Dallas ISD students, out of 1.3 million applicants, are winners of college-sponsored scholarships from the National Merit Scholarship Corporation.
Samuel H., of the School of Science and Engineering at Yvonne A. Ewell Townview Center, and Cami S., of the School for the Talented and Gifted at Yvonne A. Ewell Townview Center, are among the 2,900 students nationwide who received this year’s award.
Recent graduates, Samuel plans to study physics at the University of Texas at Dallas, while Cami will go on to Texas A&M University to pursue biomedical engineering.
“This recognition tells me that Cami demonstrated remarkable discipline and focus—qualities that go beyond intelligence alone,” said Arnold Zuñiga, principal of Townview TAG. “It shows that she met challenges head-on, often balancing academics with extracurricular and community involvement, all while maintaining a high level of performance.”
An honor given to fewer than one percent of high school seniors, the awards range from $500 to $2,000 annually and are renewable for up to four years of undergraduate study at the sponsoring institution. Additional recipients will be announced in July.
