On Jan. 7, Dallas ISD opened the doors of three new schools, ushering in a new era of learning and innovation for students across the district.
These state-of-the-art facilities — Albert C. Black, Jr. STEAM Academy, Marcus Leadership Academy, and Martha Turner Reilly Elementary School — represent the district’s commitment to academic excellence, equity, and preparing students for the future.
Named in honor of a distinguished Dallas leader and businessman, Albert C. Black Jr. STEAM Academy is dedicated to fostering curiosity and innovation through its focus on science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics. The school features cutting-edge laboratories, collaborative maker spaces, and dynamic arts facilities designed to inspire creativity and critical thinking. Students will have the opportunity to engage in hands-on learning and explore career pathways in high-demand fields, ensuring they are prepared to thrive in a rapidly evolving world.
Marcus Leadership Academy is a beacon for cultivating future leaders. With an emphasis on leadership development, civic engagement, and academic rigor, the academy equips students with the skills and mindset needed to make a meaningful impact in their communities and beyond. The campus boasts modern classrooms, interactive technology, and a robust curriculum that integrates leadership principles into core subjects. Partnerships with local businesses and organizations provide students with mentorship opportunities and real-world experiences, reinforcing the academy’s mission of empowering tomorrow’s leaders.
The newly constructed Martha Turner Reilly Elementary School offers a warm, inclusive environment where young learners can flourish. Designed with input from the community, the school reflects a vision of collaboration and excellence. Bright, flexible learning spaces, outdoor classrooms, and advanced technology create an engaging environment that supports diverse learning styles. Reilly Elementary is committed to nurturing the whole child, with programs that emphasize social-emotional learning, family involvement, and academic achievement.
The district worked closely with parents, educators, and community members throughout the planning and construction process. These partnerships were instrumental in ensuring that the facilities meet the unique needs of each school community. As the 2024-2025 school year progresses, these campuses will host events and initiatives to strengthen ties with their surrounding neighborhoods.
Dallas ISD invites everyone to join in celebrating this milestone and to support these schools as they embark on their journeys to excellence. Together, we are shaping a brighter future for Dallas.
