The Royce West Leadership Academy Eagles were welcomed back with a slam dunk on Aug.12 to celebrate the establishment of the school’s partnership with the Dallas Mavericks for the 2024-2025 school year.

As an adopted school, the Mavs plan to invest in the school by providing funds to help meet essential needsfor the campus through their Mavs Take ACTION! program. Students at Royce West will benefit in a multitude of ways through mentorship programs, educational resources, and several opportunities to engage with the Mavericks organization.
Mavericks CEO Cynt Marshall, Champ, and the Mavs ManiAACs connected with the school community by providing swag items such as branded notebooks and T-shirts, but also by cheering students on as they made their entrance to the gymnasium for a first-day pep rally.

“We [the Mavs]are here to help develop these young scholars into empowered leaders,” Marshall said during the pep rally. “We don’t just work here, we don’t just play here, we live here too.”

Two years ago, the Mavericks adopted Adelle Turner Elementary School and transformed the educational experience for hundreds of kids. Some of the ways the Mavericks showed their support included dedicating a brand new, state-of-the-art basketball court, joining Adelle Turner’s field day, and establishing a new Girl Scouts troop.

In anticipation of what opportunities the partnership will bring, and as the school year progresses, Royce West’s involvement in the Adopt-A-School program is expected to inspire and impact students for the rest of their lives.
