Dallas ISD held a summer commencement ceremony – the last graduation for the class of 2024 – at Alfred J. Loos Field House on Aug. 7 for nearly 180 students.
Ryan Zysk, associate superintendent of School Leadership Region III, opened the ceremony with a welcome speech. He thanked faculty, parents, friends, and family for their steadfast support and encouragement, love and belief in each graduate.
“Summer graduates are unique, they symbolize a journey that didn’t follow the traditional path, but rather a route that required additional dedication and resilience,” he said. “Each of you has demonstrated that success is not defined by a timeline, instead by the unwavering determination to reach your goals. Your journey through high school has prepared you for the next chapter of your lives, it has taught you the importance of hard work, the importance of perseverance, and the power of community, and these are lessons that will serve you very well as you move forward.”
Joyce Foreman, who represents District 6 on the Dallas ISD Board of Trustees, shared words of encouragement for the graduates.
“You’ve dedicated yourselves and worked tirelessly to this milestone and your perseverance has paid off,” she said. “As you’ve likely discovered, success is a product of hard work and determination. I am confident that the education you received in Dallas ISD will serve you as long as you step up into this next chapter of your life. Remember, you have a supportive community behind you now and always.”
