Dallas ISD to offer free summer meals

Dallas ISD will provide free meals to students throughout the summer months.

Families with children 18 years and younger are encouraged to take advantage of the Summer Food Service Program, which will offer healthy and balanced meals daily.

For children who rely on school meals during the academic year, these meals, offered by Food and Nutrition Services, are a source of good nutrition when school is out for the long summer vacation.

“Because we are committed to the health and wellbeing of all Dallas ISD students, healthy no-cost meals will be available to all young people across our community,” said Debi Rowley, executive director of Food and Nutrition Services. “Our meals meet or exceed every USDA health requirement, and feature items like lean proteins, whole grains, multiple fruits and vegetables, and milk.”

Dallas ISD will kick off summer meals with a celebratory event at H.S. Thompson S.T.E.A.M. Academy from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Wednesday, June 5. Festivities include games, activities for kids, food, giveaways, taste testings, community vendors, and much more.

Families are encouraged to use the following tools to find a meal site near them:

  •  Visit dallasisd.org/FCNS for an interactive site locator map
  • Call 2-1-1 to speak to a live operator
  • Text “Food” to 304-304
