Charmaine & Robert Price Career Institute South recently broke ground on renovations and additions to the campus, a significant step forward in Dallas ISD’s commitment to expanding access to career-focused education.
“Today, we celebrate the official start of renovations and additions that will allow us to better meet the needs of our students and the greater community we serve,” said Adrianne Jones, Founding Director of CIS.
The school’s namesake comes from husband and wife, Charmaine and Robert Price who have served the Dallas community as educators, mentors, and community leaders for almost 50 years.
“They have generously given their time to serve as volunteers, tutors, and mentors for students and teachers alike. To know the Prices is to know what true servant leadership means,” Joyce Foreman, District 6 Dallas ISD Trustee, said.
CI South offers specialized programs in construction and carpentry, plumbing, electrical and solar technology, and other industry-aligned pathways. It currently serves students in the city’s southern sector including W.H. Adamson High School, David W. Carter High School, Justin F. Kimball High School, Moisés E. Molina High School, Dr. L. G. Pinkston Sr., Franklin D. Roosevelt High School of Innovation, Seagoville High School, South Oak Cliff High School, Sunset High School, and Wilmer- Hutchins High School.
As shown through the success of Dallas ISD’s other career institutes, generations of students will be able to thrive in CI South’s Career and Technical Education courses working alongside industry partners, training on industry-standard equipment, and obtaining four or more certifications, all while completing their high school diploma.
“This institute, along with its sister institutes in the North, East, and West are more than simple structures. They are portals to the future—with the potential to develop leaders, create financial equity, and expanded opportunities for our graduates,” said Brian Lusk Ed.D., Deputy Superintendent of Academics and Transformation.
The renovations to CI South are scheduled to be completed by May 2025.
