UPDATE: TUESDAY, JAN. 16, 2 P.M.
Dallas ISD schools and offices will be open Wednesday, Jan. 17, 2024. Buses will run their normal schedule, and all students and team members are expected at their regular time. Campuses will open doors 30 minutes earlier than normal to accommodate students.
We encourage families to send students to school with warm clothing, including coats, gloves, and hats, as extremely cold temperatures are expected throughout the day.
We look forward to seeing everyone tomorrow.
UPDATE: MONDAY, JAN. 15, 3 P.M.
Due to inclement weather, all Dallas ISD schools, after-school activities, athletic events, and offices will be closed Tuesday, Jan. 16, 2024. We will continue monitoring the weather to determine Wednesday’s plan. For ongoing updates, check the district’s website or social media channels.
We hope you and your families are staying warm and safe inside.
UPDATE: FRIDAY, JAN. 12, 3:30 P.M.
Dallas ISD is monitoring weather conditions and will continue to do so throughout the holiday weekend. In anticipation of expected winter weather conditions, Dallas ISD has mobilized team members to implement preventative measures across the district. At this time, all activities and events will remain as planned for Friday, Jan. 12 and Saturday, Jan. 13.
To prevent potential infrastructure damage caused by freezing temperatures, water will be turned off in portables this weekend. Team members will conduct building checks, which would include inspecting boilers, pipes, thermostat set points, and any potential leaks.
In the event of inclement weather, the decision to open or close schools will be made by the superintendent and communicated as soon as possible to parents/guardians and team members in several ways:
SchoolMessenger
Dallas ISD website homepage
Social media platforms
Local news outlets
To receive notifications about weather closings, parents are encouraged to ensure their contact information is up-to-date in PowerSchool through the Parent Portal. This can also be done by contacting their respective schools. Team members are advised to verify their contact number is correctly listed in the home field in Oracle to receive notifications about weather-related closings and other important alerts.
