U.S. News & World Report ranks Dallas ISD schools best in Texas

Dallas ISD high schools are among the top 10% of Texas high schools, according to the latest U.S. News & World Report Best High Schools rankings. Additionally, 18 Dallas ISD high schools earned high national rankings, with nine schools ranking in the top 50 in Texas. 

The School for the Talented and Gifted at Yvonne A. Ewell Townview Center (TAG) was ranked No. 1 in Texas and sixth nationally.“The school’s (TAG’s) success is due to the everyday commitment every single person has day in and day out,” said TAG Principal Arnoldo Zuniga. 

Irma Lerma Rangel Young Women’s Leadership School ranked second in Texas and No. 18 nationally. “The hard work and dedication of our young ladies are a testament to the limitless potential, fearlessness, and strength of their leadership,” said Irma Lerma Rangel Young Women’s Leadership School Principal Yvonne D. Rojas.

The School of Science and Engineering (SEM) at Yvonne A. Ewell Townview Center ranked third in Texas and No. 23 nationally. “This recognition tells a story of the great things happening here at SEM and throughout Dallas ISD. I am immensely proud of our brilliant students and devoted teachers,” said SEM Principal Dr. Andrew Palacios.

According to U.S. News & World Report, the highest-ranked public schools in the 2023-2024 Best High Schools national rankings are those whose students achieved exceptional scores on state assessments for math, reading, and science. Nearly 25,000 public high schools at the national, state, and local levels were evaluated. 

Dallas ISD schools ranked in the top 50 in Texas are:

#3 School of Science and Engineering at Yvonne A. Ewell Townview Center

#8 Trinidad Garza Early College High School at Mountain View

#9 Judge Barefoot Sanders Law Magnet

#18 School of Health Professions at Yvonne A. Ewell Townview Center

#36 Dr. Wright L Lassiter Jr. Early College High School at El Centro College

#43 Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts

#45 Barack Obama Male Leadership Academy at A. Maceo Smith
